I was constantly re-arranging the rooms in my mom’s house when I was a kid. I came from a family of artists so naturally, I wanted a career where I could be creative.
I love working with older homes and creating a space that holds the homes integrity. Sometimes I will get on the internet or look at old magazines for inspiration, even if its not current. It’s all about taking the home owners likes/dislikes & the home itself, into consideration and giving it a more up to date & functional design.
I typically ask the client if they have inspiration photos. I learn what they like & don’t like, what they need and what their intentions are for space. I do not (or rather, cannot) bake, however, someone else might have a little bakery going on in their own home. We would each use our space differently.
I would say that they like that I am knowledgeable, relatable and fun to work with. I try to be honest & upfront about product lines, colors, accessories, etc. A home project can be very stressful. As a designer, the choices I make for a person can be stressful as well but I hope I make the client feel like their project is a fun treat versus a chore.
